Psychology Week Day 2: Faculty Feature
During Psychology Week, we are highlighting some of the faculty here in the Psychology department at Minnesota State University, Mankato. You can learn more about our department, the degrees we offer, and other information and resources at https://www.mnsu.edu/programs/psychology/. Read on and check back every day this week for information about our faculty, and helpful advice for students.
Kristie Campana, PhD in Industrial - Organizational Psychology
“I like understanding why people do what they do, and helping them understand and evaluate their approach to problems or people.”
Kristie’s Advice:
“Don't be afraid to make mistakes! We all do it, even if you don't see it. Making mistakes is normal, and what really matters is how you respond to mistakes. If you can't learn from them, they won't do you any good.”
Shawna Petersen-Brown, PhD in Educational Psychology (School Psychology)
“I enjoy the opportunity to support students’ learning and development. For me, this includes graduate and undergraduate students at Minnesota State Mankato, and also children and youth in the public school system.”
Shawna’s Advice:
“Take any opportunity to get involved in research and career explorations. Psychology (and even more specific disciplines like school psychology) is wide ranging in terms of things to learn, discover, and do. It’s energizing and inspiring to learn about something new in a discipline you’re passionate about!”
